Terms of Use
Last updated 30 October 2026
Please read these terms carefully. They explain the rules for using Kampii, what we are responsible for, and what we are not.
1. Who we are and these terms
Kampii ("Kampii", "we", "us") is an online marketplace for students and the communities around universities in Ghana. It is run by the Kampii team, in Ghana.
These Terms of Use are a binding agreement between you and Kampii. By creating an account, logging in, or using Kampii in any way, you accept them and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Kampii.
2. Who can use Kampii
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the permission of a parent or guardian, and be able to enter a binding agreement under Ghanaian law. You must give true details, use a mobile number that is yours, and keep only one personal account. You are responsible for everything done through your account and phone, so keep your phone and login codes to yourself.
We may refuse, limit or close any account at our discretion, including where we cannot verify who you are.
3. What Kampii is, and is not
Kampii is a venue that lets people list items, services, rooms and requests, find each other and chat. We are not a party to any sale, rental or agreement between users. We do not own, inspect, store, deliver or guarantee anything listed, and we are not an agent, landlord, employer, escrow or insurer for any user.
We do not check, and do not promise, that any listing, request, ad, review or message is true, accurate, legal or safe, or that any user will complete a deal. Any payment between users happens directly between them, outside Kampii, at their own risk. Always meet in a safe public place, check the item before paying, and never pay a deposit or fee for something you have not seen.
A "verified" seller or agent means only that our team looked at the ID document they sent at the time. It is not an endorsement or a guarantee of their honesty, identity or what they sell.
4. Your responsibilities and community rules
When you use Kampii you agree to:
- obey the laws of Ghana and the rules of your school;
- describe and price things honestly, with your own photos, and keep listings up to date (mark them sold or remove them);
- own, or have the right to sell or rent, what you list, and honour deals you agree to;
- treat others with respect: no harassment, threats, hate speech, discrimination or sexual content;
- not scam, impersonate anyone, create fake accounts, manipulate reviews, or ask for payment outside a genuine deal;
- not spam, send chain messages, or contact people for anything unrelated to a listing or request;
- not copy, scrape or collect other users' details or content, or use bots, or try to break, overload or get around Kampii's security or limits;
- not use Kampii to advertise or sell outside the tools we provide (for example by posting ads as listings).
5. Things you may not list or advertise
- drugs, prescription medicines, alcohol, tobacco and vaping products;
- weapons, ammunition, explosives, fireworks or dangerous chemicals;
- stolen goods, counterfeit or fake items, or anything you are not allowed to sell;
- exam papers, assignments written for others, or any help to cheat in school work or exams;
- fake or altered documents, IDs, certificates or transcripts, and SIM cards or accounts registered to someone else;
- adult or sexual content or services;
- gambling, betting tips, "investment" schemes, pyramid or network-marketing schemes, loans, or crypto offers;
- live animals, human body parts, or anything else illegal in Ghana or banned by your school.
We decide what fits these rules, and may remove anything we think breaks them or puts people at risk.
6. Sellers, house agents and rooms
Sellers and house agents must send the ID photo we ask for and may only start once approved. Approval is at our discretion and we may withdraw it at any time.
House agents and anyone listing a room must have the owner's permission to rent it out, describe it accurately, and follow the laws on rent, rent advances and letting. Any tenancy, deposit or agent's fee is solely between the people involved; Kampii takes no part and no responsibility.
7. Ads
Businesses that place ads are responsible for everything in them, including prices, offers and claims, and for having the right to use any names, logos and images. Ads must follow the law and these terms.
Every ad is reviewed before it runs. We may reject, pause or remove any ad at our discretion. We decide where and how often ads appear and may rotate them; we do not guarantee any number of views, clicks, customers or sales, or that an ad will start on a particular day.
8. Plans, fees and payments
Browsing, buying, and the free plans are free. Paid seller and agent plans and ads cost the prices shown in Kampii at the time you pay, in Ghana cedis, paid in advance through our payment provider. Paid plans last for the period shown and do not renew without a new payment.
Fees are non-refundable, including where you stop using a plan early, an ad is rejected after review because it breaks these terms, or your account is suspended for breaking them, except where Ghanaian law requires a refund. If we charged you in error, or could not provide what you paid for because of a fault on our side, tell us within 14 days and we will, at our choice, fix it, extend the plan or ad, or refund that payment.
We may change prices and what plans include. Changes apply to the next payment, not one already made. A reversed or disputed payment may lead to the related plan or ad being stopped.
9. Your content and our licence to use it
You keep ownership of the photos, text and other content you post. You give Kampii a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, copy, resize, display and share that content, to run, show and promote Kampii (for example showing a listing in search results or on social media), for as long as it is on Kampii and for a reasonable time after you remove it, and to keep copies where needed for safety, legal or backup reasons.
You promise that you have the right to post what you post and that it does not break anyone else's rights or the law. We may remove or edit the display of any content at our discretion.
10. Messages, reports and moderation
Chats are between the people in them, but our team may read a chat, listing or account when it is reported, to stop fraud or abuse, or when the law requires. Don't share passwords, PINs, Mobile Money codes or other sensitive details in chat.
We may, at our discretion and with or without notice, remove content, limit features, suspend or close an account, and keep someone from coming back, where we believe they broke these terms, put others at risk, or harmed Kampii. We may share information with the police or other authorities where we think it is needed or the law requires it.
11. Kampii's name and app
The Kampii name, logo, design, software and content we create belong to us. You may not copy, change, sell or use them, or make apps or services from them, without our written permission.
12. No guarantees
Kampii is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will always be available, fast, secure or free of errors, or that content on it is accurate. We may change, pause or stop any part of Kampii at any time.
13. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for anything another user does or fails to do, or for any item, room, service, ad, payment or meeting between users, including loss, theft, damage, injury, or fraud;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost data, or lost opportunities;
- our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the larger of the fees you paid Kampii in the 3 months before the claim, or GH₵100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Ghanaian law, such as for fraud.
14. Your responsibility to us
If you break these terms or the law, or a claim is made against us because of your content, listings, ads or dealings with other users, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs (including legal fees) arising from it.
15. Problems between users
Any dispute about a deal, room or ad is between the users involved. We may try to help, for example by looking at a report, but we don't have to, and any decision we make about content or accounts is final as far as Kampii is concerned. You release Kampii from claims arising from disputes with other users, to the extent the law allows.
16. Problems with Kampii, and the law that applies
If you have a complaint about Kampii, message us through the Help page first and give us 30 days to try to settle it. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, and the courts of Ghana have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute that we cannot settle together.
17. Changes and general terms
We may update these terms. We will show the new date at the top, and tell you in Kampii or by SMS about important changes. Using Kampii after a change means you accept it.
You can stop using Kampii at any time and ask us to close your account through the Help page. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as fees, licences, liability and disputes) continue after your account closes. We may transfer Kampii and these terms to another owner. If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Kampii about using it.
